You can help us rebuild and grow the specialty-ready correctional nursing workforce in two ways:
1) Financial support for an experienced correctional nurse to become a Nurse Professional Development Practitioner for correctional settings (CNPDP).
This opportunity helps provide an experienced correctional nurse with virtual tools, courses, and pre-certification course review, as well as the cost of the certification test and follow-up mentoring. The newly- certified CNPDP then commits to teach the incoming students and nurses seeking ‘specialty-ready’ correctional nurse credentials for at least one year. This enables the program to grow, recruit, and retain more nurses for the workforce.
2) Financial support for the delivery of FREE ‘specialty-ready correctional nurse’ courses leading to a credential for completion of the CNPDP courses.
This opportunity supports visibility of the specialty and rapid promotion of specialty curricula designed to address the issues of recruitment of students and nurses. This evidence-based approach has been demonstrated by ANA to enhance recruitment and support retention.
